Liz Dowty Mitchell

A native New Orleanian, I am thrilled to finally be able to start my own wine business in the city where I first cut my teeth in the hospitality industry at The Wine Loft, and subsequently with the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group.

I have devoted the last 15 years of my life to learning everything I can about wine (and I’m still learning)! I’ve traveled to all of the major wine-producing regions and worked in all aspects of the industry, including wine bars, wine shops, restaurants, wine distributors, and importers; which has given me an enormous breadth of knowledge. 

I prefer European wines, particularly, wines from Spain! I especially love wines from Rioja and Sherry (fun fact: I adore Sherry so much that I got married there in 2015!). I also have a fondness for the wines from the Loire Valley (Sancerre and Vouvray) and the Rhone Valley in France. Wines from Greece and Gruner Veltliners from Austria also really excite me!  However, I do have a deep appreciation and affinity for wines made in a classic style from the United States.

When I’m not “working”, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my 3-year-old-son, Alexander, my husband, John Mitchell, and our dog, Georgia. I love dancing, listening to and seeing musical theatre, going to concerts, obsessing over Beyoncé, traveling as much as possible, and dining out.

I am really looking forward to cultivating relationships with wine enthusiasts and budding wine collectors in Louisiana and beyond by sharing my passion for one of the most interesting and beguiling beverages in the world!
